Welcome to PGO phase one training. below are four educational training platforms selected to assist new officials in their beginning journey as game officials. You will be expected to complete all four courses within your first season as aN OFFICIAL. Each course will provide you with a certificate upon completion. send a copy OF YOUR CERTIFICATE to yoUR designated mentor TO KEEP track OF your progress. There ARE three mandatory mini clinics you will ALSO be expected to participate in during your first season.

The NFHS has teamed up with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to educate coaches, officials, parents and students on the importance of proper concussion recognition and management in high school sports. This course highlights the impact of sports-related concussion on athletes, teachers how to recognize a suspected concussion, and provides protocols to manage a suspected concussion with steps to help players return to play safely after a concussion.  Each state's requirements for concussion management are included as part of the course.

Officiating Football has been developed for new game officials as well as experienced high school game officials. The course explains principles and practice of good football officiating, through rules knowledge and professionalism.  The course discusses risk minimization and its potential impact on injuries.  It teaches legal blocking and legal catches, and shows how to identify both.

This FREE course presented by Tim Kiefer is designed to provide an introduction to football officiating by taking you through the basic rules of the game. From the correct uniform to penalty enforcement, you will gain a general understanding of the game from a game official perspective.

Officials play vital roles in youth athletic programs around the country and their contributions significantly impact the quality of the experiences young athletes have. 

The NAYS Officials Training & Membership Program, formerly the National Youth Sports Officials Association  (NYSOA), helps both veteran and beginning officials have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities so that they can use their positions of authority to make a positive difference.

The training and membership fee is $20.
