Review 9-1-3 and 9-1-4 before/during this training. One way of determining if you have a Targeting foul.... 1) Was the player Defenseless? (9-1-4) If so, any forcible contact to the head or neck area is Targeting. That contact can be with the helmet, shoulder, hand, etc. 2) If the player was not Defenseless (9-1-3), then we have Targeting if, and only if, the contact was with the crown of the helmet. 3) An indicator needs to be present. (Note 1).
